Sabeel works alongside high schools across Halifax to build an inclusive, respectful environment where Muslim students can practise their faith without sacrificing their studies.
From arranging Friday prayers on school premises to helping students launch Muslim Student Associations, our work supports students’ spiritual needs while encouraging a wider understanding of, and respect for, religious diversity across the whole student body.

We work with schools to hold Jumu‘ah on school premises, so students can observe their faith without missing class.

Monthly halaqas, school events and youth camps spark real conversations about faith and today’s challenges.
A model for school partnership
Together with the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) and the school’s MSA, Sabeel established weekly Friday prayers — so Muslim students can meet their religious obligations without compromise.
Monthly halaqas and events have also sparked curiosity among non-Muslim classmates, creating a welcoming space for interfaith dialogue and a deeper appreciation of Islam across the school community.
Camps that bring youth closer to the masjid
Our day-to-day presence in high schools lets us organise camps that bridge the gap between young people and the mosque.
Each camp tackles topics that matter in students’ lives today — building a real connection to their faith and community, and the confidence to navigate modern challenges with a strong sense of identity.
