A home for Halifax’s growing Muslim community
Sabeel was founded to serve the many new families arriving in Nova Scotia — a growing community with a growing need for services and activities, Alhamdulillah.
More than a place of worship, Sabeel Muslim Youth & Community Center is a registered charity focused on the development and growth of Muslim youth, through educational, social and religious initiatives that revive and strengthen Muslim identity.
We work in collaboration with Islamic centres across Nova Scotia and Canada, believing that more options help our whole community strive for excellence, In sha Allah.
رُؤْيَتُنَا
Our visionA world in which Muslim youth are grounded in their belief — practising with pride while being engaged, productive members of society.
What we’re here to do
Four commitments guide every program, class and gathering at Sabeel.
Educate
Teach the youth of our community the basics of Islam and Islamic values.
Uphold
Uphold and apply the principles and practices of Islam as revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Support
Provide support, care and counselling to help youth navigate today’s issues.
Provide
Build facilities and programs for future generations, bridging the gap between them.
Rooted in the Qur’an and the Sunnah
All of our beliefs and values are based on the Holy Qur’an and the authentic teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
We also draw on the example of the righteous companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in our teaching and social development curriculums.
Serving the wider community
Our registered charity status helps us extend our work beyond our walls.
It allows us to help fight poverty in the HRM, coordinate with other charities to support local families, and grow our educational capacity — empowering the next generation to be Canadians who benefit society.
