Alhamdulilah! We had a successful Community Townhall this past Saturday, bringing together our community to review our progress, discuss our future, and highlight our achievements over the past year. Below is a summary of the important talking points discussed during the townhall:

Youth Engagement and Program Highlights

We are proud to report significant engagement with our youth across various programs. Key figures include:

• 887 participants in our dynamic camp programs, including Summer, Winter, and specialized camps.
• 445 participants in our educational programs such as the Hafiz Academy, Quran, and Islamic classes.
• 254 sisters engaged in specialized sisters-only programs.
• 67 participants in our recreational activities, including sports and trips. These numbers reflect Sabeel’s strong focus on providing consistent and valuable programming for all age groups, for both brothers and sisters, Alhamdulilah!

Short-Term & Long-Term Goals

We reviewed our major achievements and laid out our next steps:

• Short-Term Goals: Successfully completed key projects, including finding a space for Sabeel’s activities, initiating our charity application, drafting our constitution, and preparing to launch community membership and elections.
• Long-Term Goals: Alhamdulilah, we have successfully purchased a piece of land for our Sabeel project. The next phase involves planning and building our Youth Center, Mosque, and School. We are grateful for the community’s support and will continue to raise funds to see this vision through, Insha’Allah.

Land Acquisition & Project Update

We were excited to provide updates on the land we’ve acquired for our future project:

• The land is centrally located, providing easy access to several key areas in Halifax.
• The zoning permits our project plans for a Youth Center, School, and Mosque. We may seek adjustments depending on future developments for our income-generating Waqf project.
• Project Phases: We are currently in the project planning phase with land surveying and architectural planning underway. Insha’Allah, we will move to project execution next year.

Constitution & Governance

We are finalizing the constitution, focusing on creating a strong structure that reflects the values of transparency, accountability, and engagement with our community.

• We’ve completed extensive reviews and amendments, and we are working towards opening membership soon, followed by the first General Assembly and elections.

As we continue our journey to build a strong and active Muslim community, we remain committed to transparency, consistency, and collaboration with the community.
